Monika received her BS Chem, majoring in chemistry and mathematics, from Creighton University in Omaha, NE in the United States in May 2017. She studied the release of microencapsulated antimicrobial agents as a Clare Boothe Luce scholar during this time. Wanting to branch out from polymer chemistry, Monika joined the Wheeler lab as a PhD student to delve into novel analytical methods, such as digital microfluidics and optoelectronic tweezers. In the future, Monika wants to bridge the gap between fundamental research and the general public.

In her free time, Monika enjoys playing the violin, helping her sister with chemistry homework, and watching Netflix. When Monika is particularly stressed, she will experiment in the kitchen and share the results (baked goods).
